Drama on the Bridge Road in two-vehicle collision

An emergency called out as a three-car collision on Listowel's Bridge Road late on Thursday mercifully involved little actual injury - as it became apparent that it was, in fact, a two-car collision with the single occupant-drivers of both vehicles emerging largely unscathed.

The incident happened around 10pm on Thursday night when a Toyota Avensis and a Hyundai people-carrier collided on the Tralee side of the Bridge Road.

It's believed that it appeared to involve three cars to the on-lookers who raised the alarm.

Listowel Fire Brigade and gardaí raced to the aid of the stricken drivers. They found them largely unhurt physically, but shaken to quite an extent by the experience.

One of the vehicles was described as a near write-off, meanwhile.

Both drivers insisted they were fine, and The Kerryman understands that neither were taken to University Hospital Kerry following the collision.

Meanwhile, an ambulance driving from the Duagh side of the Bridge happened to come on the scene, while driving towards Tralee having dealt with an earlier call-out. Paramedics in that ambulance stopped to offer help but it was apparent by then all were unhurt.
