Dog poop to be tackled this Friday in massive spring clean

DINGLE Tidy Towns is appealing to people of all ages to join in the National Spring Clean taking place locally this month.

On this Friday the group will meet at the bottle bank in Dingle at 7pm to concentrate on clearing dog doo from streets and walking routes around the town. Dog owners are invited to take part and it is hoped they will set a good example to others by participating.

This this Saturday and the following Saturday (April 12) Dingle Tidy Towns will meet at 2.30pm at the bottle bank and if there is a good enough turnout on the day it is intended to collect litter along all approach roads and seashore areas in the vicinity of the town.

Bags and gloves will be available and participants are reminded to wear suitable outdoor clothing and footwear. Dingle Tidy Towns' Tuesday evening work sessions will also recommence on April 15, meeting at 7pm at bottle bank.

People who may not be available at that time - but who wish to give a hand - can also participate by contacting Patrick Sheehy (Spar), Gene Courtney (Bakery) or Risteard Mac Liam any of whom will allocate suitable work or coordinate their efforts to improve our town.

Of course Dingle town is not the only area in need of a clean up and it is hoped that active committees all around Corca Dhuibhne will make a great effort in their own parishes as the winter storms have left a lot of litter strewn across the countryside.
