They're going for the five-in-a-row as well as their very own dedicated sportsfield.

It's all going on for Listowel Athletics Club at present!

Fresh from being announced as the County Athletics Champions for a fourth year in a row, the Club is also launching a major fundraising campaign to secure its own dedicated facility.

And the first big date in their fundraising campaign is a Night at the Dogs in the Kingdom stadium in Tralee on Friday, July 26 next.

Kevin Lynch of Listowel Athletics told The Kerryman the club is calling for the support of everyone in the drive for a dedicated sportsfield:"We're delighted with what was our fourth year in a row winning the club of the year in the County Championship, which was based on our athletes' brilliant performances at the finals in An Ríocht."We have 180 members across North Kerry and west Limerick and such is the demand now that it is vital we secure our own sportsfield.

"We are working on securing a specific site at present. It's not fully agreed yet but it will contain a park and running track, a middle-distance track and with the ability to cater for all the many different field events as well of course, which we are particularly strong at," Kevin explained.

Meanwhile, the Club is also celebrating the continued success of member Aoife O'Mahony, who has completed her first year of an athletics scholarship at uni in Florida.
