Ad campaign will showcase Cloghane and west Kerry

The stunning scenery of west Kerry will be catapulted into the international spotlight later this year after a leading US clothing company chose the area as the location for its December 2015 Winter clothing catalogue photo shoot.

J Crew Clothing began their first day of a four-day shoot in beautiful Cloghane/Brandon on Tuesday before moving to Minard Castle, Inch Beach, Dunquin and the Gap of Dunloe later this week.

Photoshoot producer Tara Rehak told The Kerryman that company bosses go through a rigorous selection process while trying to pinpoint the perfect location for each shoot and this year decided on Ireland.

After researching online and being sent a series of images of Kerry, and in particular West Kerry, she said they were hooked.

"Given it was the December clothing line we wanted somewhere with beautiful scenery that was a little bit cold and to be honest this place is pretty breathtaking," she said.

"There are two teams at work on the shoot between now and Thursday, concentrating mainly on Cloghane and west Kerry and we can honestly say we've been blown away."

Ms Rehak explained that the J Crew catalogue, featuring dozens of images of west Kerry, will be distributed to stores across the UK, Paris and London in mid November.

Cloghane publican Mícheál O'Dowd said that having such a renowned company choose west Kerry for their catalogue shoot will be a massive boost to the area.
