Tralee's CH Chemists, one of the county's best-known retailers, is set to undergo a major €1.5 million refurbishment.

Work will begin this week on the extensive refurbishment of CH's landmark outlet on Tralee's Mall. Leading London-based retail design agency Dalziel and Pow were commissioned to redesign the CH store, with local construction contractor Ned O'Shea - along with a number of other Kerry service providers - to carry out the works. The main aspect of the works will see the refurbishment and upgrade of CH Chemists' cosmetics, beauty and hair departments.

During the work, a significant section of the existing outlet will be closed, with certain services - including beauty and cosmetics services - temporarily moving to three separate units in Abbey Court, off Tralee Town Square. Other departments - such as CH's pharmacy, opticians and photo services sections - will remain open in the existing premises, with access from Milk Market Lane. "We are very excited about our plans and look forward to the new CH experience here in the heart of Tralee town," said co-owner Peter Harty.
