The cold weather did not deter the youngsters from academy training last Friday evening as great numbers turned out at the IT College. Great progress has been made since the start of the new year and credit is due to all the coaches who have volunteered their energy and time. Many thanks to coaches Philip, Andy, Adam, Pa, Murt, Simon, Chris, Dean and Noel for their help last Friday. Academy training continues this Friday evening, Feb 27th at the IT College, North Campus, from 6 to 7pm.
U-7 and U-8 Blitz
A group of U-7s and U-8s travelled to Killarney Celtic last Saturday to participate in a 5 team soccer tournament and reports have it that they all enjoyed themselves throughout the day. Indeed, our U-8s went through the day, remaining unbeaten and demonstrating some fine skills in all the matches. Players such as Fionn Daly, Cathal White, James Doyle, Stephen Turner and Lee Wharton all played exceptionally well as did Matthew Rogers, Harry O Connell, Shane Crossan, Conor Lucey Eoghan and Jack Joy and ever dependable Luke Silles. Well done to all and to coaches Pa, Noel, Pa and Tony for looking after all the youngsters,
U-14 Cup Rd 1
Dynamos 4-2 Inter Kenmare. Dynamos advanced to Rd 2 of the Cup against a valiant Kenmare side and despite going 2-0 down after 25 minutes, our lads dug deep and clawed their way back, due to the efforts of Sean Kennedy (who score all four goals ), Darragh Leen, Leo Gaxha, Sonny Rramani and Brian O Dowd.
It was a very slow start from the home side who found it difficult to get their usual passing game going but eventually they settled down with David Rogers, Nemanja Samardzic and man of the match Danny Draghici getting Dynamos going. Keeper Darragh Reen was quite assured after a nervy start and subs Joe Carmody, Jean Jervais, Bradley Lynch and Danny Bowler all doing very well when introduced. Rian Mc Lysaght had another sound performance at full back, as did Darragh Broderick on the other wing. A much improved second half saw Dynamos progress to the Second round of the Cup.
Both our U-12 teams were knocked out of the cup with our A team losing out away to Ballyhar with Philip Evans, DJ Griffin and Leonit Salihoz playing well for Dynamos and our B squad going under to Park FC with Mark Talbot, Andy Rogers, Donagh Stephenson and Calvin Wong impressing for our lads. Focus now remains on the League for the remaining few weeks.

Tralee Imperials Basketball Club
The U10 girls of the academy travelled to Kenmare on Sunday last for the U1O tournament. All players got games and were given an opportunity to show their new skills learned over the last few weeks. We played two St Marys teams in the blitz -the first team were a strong physical side and the girls started slowly but got into the game as it progressed.
The game ended in a draw with some beautiful lay ups from Keelan Coffey and Grace Reidy and great defensive play from Laura Dennehy and Niamh Collins. In the second game- we came out of the blocks very quickly and got up a good lead in the first half with great outside shooting from Holly o Brien and Aisling Casey and fantastic lay ups by Cara Gannon and Sorcha Casey.
Mary Moore caught some great rebounds and scored all her free throws and we ran out winners in a very fast flowing game. Well done to all the players- coaches and parents of the u10 girls for a great seasonU12 GirlsWe played KCYMS on Saturday 21/2/15 at 2 pm in Killorglin.
Because only 6 players turned up we lost 20 - 0. But the girls who turned up Emma Dewey- Bronagh Kelliher- Sile Lynch- Aisling O Connell, Rebecca O Connor and captain Ciara Sharp played their hearts out.
Get well to the girls who were sick and welcome home to the girls who were away. We have our final match v St. Mary's on Saturday in Cumann Ioseaf.
The club would like to offer its condolences to Jimmy Diggins on the death of his mother. May she rest in peace.
