In a piece of good news to help you through the midweek slump, the organisers of the annual Tralee Santa 5km Fun Run have donated €6,000 to the children's ward in University Hospital Kerry (UHK).

The run, which was held back in early December and which attracted over 500 people on the day, was run in memory of teenager Fiona Moore, who died in May 2013 of Pulmonary Hypertension, while on the waiting list for a lung transplant.

This is not the first time that the popular run has  given thousands to charity, with previous events raising money for the Ronald McDonald House, Make A Wish Foundation and Heart Children Ireland.
