Pillar of Irish-Americans in New York dies
There has been great sadness among the GAA and Irish-American community of New York on the death of Brandon native John Joseph Riordan on Monday.
Close friend Maurice Brick described him as a 'tireless worker' in promoting New York Gaelic football and a 'proud member' of the Kerrymen's P&B Association of New York. Mr Riordan was Guest of Honor at the Kerry Annual Dinner Dance in 2016, in recognition of his hard work within the community over the years.
He served as manager, secretary and chairman of the Kerry Football Club over the years; founded the St Brendan's Football Club in 1986; and was elected President of the New York GAA in 2008.
