A recent table quiz held by the Elite Event Management and Quest Adventure Race Series has managed to raise just over €1,300 for the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team.

A hugely vital service in the community, members of the the Rescue team are on call 365 days of the year and according to organiser of the quiz, Quest Race Director Oliver Kirwan, the event was a way to give back to the service.

"We are so fortunate to have such an excellent service in Kerry where individuals put their own health and safety on the line to protect others.," he said on Friday.

"A lot of our participants spend a lot of time on the hills and mountains in Kerry and it's great that they can do so safe in the knowledge that if they run into trouble, someone will be there to help them. We hope to do some more fundraising in 2018 to help this great service continue.," he continued.

Kerry Mountain Rescue's Alan Wallace was suitably delighted with the donation, saying it was great to see the locals getting behind their work.

"This year, one of our fundraising targets is to replace and upgrade our technical rescue equipment, we greatly appreciate all help we can get with this.," said Alan.
