MEMORABILIA belonging to one of Ireland and Munster's rugby greats created no little excitement at the Nano Nagle school social on Friday night as the lot went under auction in a fundraiser that had people falling over each other.

Paul O'Connell's Lions jersey and gear bag raised €865 for the school on the night in one of the fundraising highlights of Friday night's social in the Listowel Arms Hotel.

"It created a massive stir and we're very thankful to the Ballybunion man who donated the items to us, but who wishes to remain anonymous," Nano Nagle staff member Michelle Halpin said.

"We raised €865 from the sale of the jersey and gear bag, which was a huge boost to the school!"

Up to 150 attended the bash, the school's eighth annual social, as past pupils and families returned into the fold of the school community to celebrate its continued service to the people of north Kerry and west Limerick.

"The social came as a great lift for the school and we had a fantastic night dancing to Heart and Soul and DJ Fatz after a wonderful meal.

"There was a lot to celebrate in the year, including such highlights as our trip to Florida during the summer and Santa's Grotto at Christmas time and the social has now proved a great start to the year for us," Michelle added.
