With last Thursday marking Alzheimer's Tea Day, the national day of fundraising for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland, there was one group here in town who were not going to let their chance to help out a great cause slip through their fingers.

The fantastic 'Inspired' group, which is located at Number 5 Friary Lane, were full of energy on Thursday morning when The Kerryman popped into see their fundraising coffee morning.

With tables of buns, biscuits and cakes to choose from and already a few happy members of the public sipping away happily, even after only a half an hour of starting, it was safe to call their event a successful one.

Having held a very successful event last year, organisers were hoping to go even one better this time around; a donation bucket was on hand for any generous locals to drop in a few Euro.

After the event, the grateful group took to social media to thank the community for their fantastic support as they revealed that they had successfully raised almost €170.

The annual Alzheimer's Tea Day is a vital fundraiser every year for the Alzheimer's Society of Ireland (ASI).

Through the fundraiser, the ASI aims to raise €500,000 to provide supports and services to help families living with dementia nationwide.
