KERRY Parents and Friends Listowel have invited Dermot O'Neill to this year's Garden Féte, which will be held on Sunday 28th April 2013 from 11 - 5pm.

All welcome, general admission is free. Also, on the day Dermot will kindly run two demonstrations at the Fete on "How to fill your baskets and containers with colour" followed by a Q&A session. . In addition Dermot will be holding a seminar in the Listowel Arms Hotel on Saturday 27th April at 5pm where he will present a slideshow entitled "My Secret Garden - Clondeglass" followed by a Q&A session.

Brendan Grace Comes to Listowel

Family Comedians with the talent and graciousness of Brendan Grace are as rare as Haley's Comet and only come around now and again. He is certainly one in a million. Brendan is appearing in concert at the Listowel Community Centre on Friday June 21st. Tickets €25 on sale at the centre.

Listowel Fashion Show

The NKMC has been a great success for 2013 and to mark the end of a successful challenge the Listowel Fashion Show will take place on Thursday 16th May, 2013 at 8.00pm, featuring Miss Ireland Universe Aoife Hannon & friends on the catwalk. Also meet the 2013 Makeover contestants. Prizes for the best dressed lady. Tickets on sale at the Centre for €10. Doors Open 7pm.

Listowel Celtic wishes to offer sincere sympathy to the Sheehy family, Greenville on the recent unexpected death of Jackie in London.

School Reunion: The word has gone out far and wide that our National School reunion will take place on Saturday May 4 and there has being a fantastic response to the initiative. Hooley in the Hills Festival

It's all systems go for Lyreacrompane's brand new Hooley in the Hills festival which will be held over the May Bank Holiday weekend. There is only one item on the agenda – Marquee Dancing. The highlight of the four day festival will be Mick Flavin, one of the biggest names in Irish Country Music. Also other great bands taken to the stage at the Festival Marquee are TR Dallas, PJ Murrihy, Micheál Sexton, Mick Condon, Eddie Keogh and Eddie Lee. Fest Details 06848353.

The parents committee of Mountcollins N.S. would like to thank all who were present in Tommy Mick's Bar on Friday night to support the fun raising quiz night. A total of 10 teams participated in the quiz with little between the sides up to the finish.


There was a big turn out for last Thursday night's card game which was a fund raiser for the Motor Neurone Association with 14 tables of players taking part. The organisers would like to thank all who supported the event by their attendance giving donations or donating prizes for the raffle.


The local Primary Care Team have now facilitated A Carers Support Group with members of the group meeting on every Tuesday from 2.30pm to 4pm in the North and East Kerry Development Centre, Crageens (Building before Riocht) Castleisland. The death took place unexpectedly last week of John (Johnny) Flynn of Market Cross, Castleisland and formerly of Knockrour West. The late John was well known in the locality and worked for many years as a truck driver. He was a very popular and likeable person. The deceased was laid to rest in Scartaglen Cemetery. The deceased is survived by his partner Kathy, neighbours, relations and friends. May he Rest In Peace.


An American group called Carragline are presently on tour in Ireland in conjunction with The Gathering. They are calling to Flemings Bar on this Saturday evening at 7.30pm where they will be music, song and dance.


A blood donor clinic will be held in Castleisland Community Centre on Wednesday and Thursday evening next May 1st and 2nd from 6-9pm each evening. Donations of blood would be very welcome.


The annual open air mass in Scartaglen Graveyard is scheduled to be celebrated on Saturday June 29th at 10am.


Our monthly tea dance at Tarbert Community Centre is on next Sunday April 24, at 3pm sharp. The music will be provided by the very popular Mike Condon admission is only 5euro and proceeds are in aid of Community Centre. Refreshments will be served.

BRÓN: The death occurred on Thursday , April 18 of Ned Phillips, Church Road, Templeglantine West. His funeral mass is on this Wednesday at 12.00 noon in Templeglantine church and burial afterwards will be in the old cemetery. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.


Renowned Newcastle poet, the Late Michael Harnett, will be remembered at the annual Éigse in Newcastle West, April 25th – 27th. Michael lived for a numbers of years at Glendarragh, Templeglantine and produced a considerable volume of poetry during that time. The official opening of the Éigse will take place at Newcastle West Library on this Thursday, April 25th.


Sunday, May 12th will be First Holy Communion Day in the parish. Daily masses in the parish church this week are at 6.30pm on Monday, Thursday and Friday, Tuesday at 9.30am, Wednesday at 12 noon (funeral mass) and Saturday at 11.00 am. The anniversary mass for the late Peg White was celebrated on Saturday evening last and for Peggy Savage on Sunday. The anniversary mass for Siobhán Woulfe will be on Thursday evening, for Stephen and Elizabeth Murphy on Saturday evening and for Ann Scanlon on Sunday next. Beannacht Dé ar anamacha na marbh.
