Kind-hearted Kara helps out

Though she is only nine years old Kara O'Sullivan from Callinafercy has already shown a maturity and kindness beyond her years to help raise funds for cancer charities.

The 4th class Nagle Rice Primary School student cut her short for two cancer charities prior to the school holidays and recently handed over the money to the Little Princess Trust UK, which makes wigs for children who have cancer, and also to the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus.

"I always have had long hair but children with cancer don't so that why I wanted to give it to them," Kara explained.

"I wanted to do it last year but my mother told me to grow it longer so I did."  Kara got her care cut in Marion's salon in Milltown.  Kara is the youngest of four siblings and they along with her Mom and Dad, Anne and Tim, are proud of Kara who in total she raised €1,100 through sponsorship with €550 donated to each of the charities.
