Kiltomey alight ahead of Easter Dawn Mass
Now in its sixth year, and having attracted superb crowds numbering many hundred in the past, people from all over the county are expected to travel to Lixnaw on Easter Sunday for its Easter Dawn Mass and Fire.
To be held at Kiltomey Cemetery, Father Mossie Brick will celebrate the Mass, and Maria Conway, a member of the organising, said there will be no shortage of spectacle after 6am Mass.
On Easter Sunday morning people will come with prayer and respect remembering that St Patrick lit the first Easter fire on the hill of Slane," she said
"As the torch is passed from the Altar to the vicinity of the fire, the words 'Heavenly Powers - Rejoice O Earth and sound the trumpet' will resound, and the mighty beat of an all-powerful drum will remind us that something special is about to unfold," she said
The event is again organised by a local group, and Maria was quick to thank all who have helped out in terms of volunteering and providing facilities.
