Whenever golf, good food and company combine it seldom produces an unfavourable occasion and so it proved the case at the 35th staging of the Killarney Lions Club Golf Outing at Mahoney’s Point in Killarney Golf & Fishing Club.

Upwards of 40 teams attended this year’s renewal and they managed to raise over €12,000 for local charities. Moreover, in its thirty-five year existence, Killarney Lions Club Golf Outing has raised in the region of €350,000 for charity.

Killarney Lions Club President, Ronan Doyle described the day as a huge success and he thanked all the sponsors for their generosity. This year’s event was the first time that a marquee was set up on the course.

“A day like this would not happen but for the assistance and generosity of so many people and businesses in the Killarney area,” he said.

“People look forward to it and they enjoy supporting it. The beneficiaries this year are Kerry Stars Special Olympics and Kerry Hospice. I think a lot of people buy into it because of these charities. I want to thank everyone for supporting the day and two very worthy charities,” Ronan added.

The winning golf team was the Aghadoe Heights Hotel. They took first prize, which was sponsored by National Tile in Killarney.
