Killarney gets festive season up and running

Tadhg Evans

Some people can't bring themselves to think of Christmas just yet, but that's not a problem you'll find in Killarney by the look of things.

Thousands thronged the town's streets on Saturday evening to feast their eyes on the Christmas in Killarney Magic Parade, the first in a wide series of Christmas-themed events organised for the town in the run up to December 25.

Mini parades will take place each Saturday between now and December 21, the first getting underway from 6pm on Saturday, November 30.

Killarney on Ice begins at the Beech Road Car Park on November 29 and will continue until January 5, and the following day, November 30, will see a start to Killarney Sleigh Rides, which will also run until January 5.

Santa's Cottage on Old Market Lane will make its 2019 bow from 1pm next Saturday, November 30,  and this regular festival favourite will take place at various dates in the run-up to Christmas.
