Over the past weekend, over 40 young people represented their local KDYS youth club or project in Limerick at the Youth Work Ireland Youth factor and Games national finals.

Youth clubs from Ballylongford and Lixnaw took part in the U 15's soccer tournament, where Killeentierna won the U'15 basketball competition while wins also came for Ballylongford in the chess competition and great performances were given by Milltown, Ballybunion and St.Senans youth clubs in the quiz.

The KDYS South West Kerry band project also had success with wins in the group singing and solo categories.

"These are great achievements by KDYS members. It really shows how talented our young people are, a sincere well done to them all. A mention has to go to the volunteers who make it all possible and simply, without them, we would have no youth clubs," said Gareth Harteveld, KDYS volunteer and support worker.

"KDYS youth clubs rely on volunteers to work with young people in their own communities. Being a KDYS volunteer has numerous advantages and I would strongly urge anyone over the age of 18 to contact me for more details." To become a volunteer with the KDYS, contact the KDYS HR department on 0646631748," he went on to finish.
