The staff and the owners of Jumbo's Family Restaurant were certainly not afraid to throw a few shapes last Tuesday as they took part in Today FM's national day of fundraising for the Irish Cancer Society.

'Be a Dancer for Cancer' is the radio station's latest annual fundraiser and one which both owner Damian O'Mahony and the rest of Jumbo's were happy to take part in.

"It was just a very positive event," said Damian, speaking to The Kerryman on Friday.

"We'd always wanted to take part in a fundraising event like this so this year, we just went for it," he continued.

The song chosen by Today FM for the fundraiser was 'Shut Up and Dance With Me' by 'Walk the Moon' and so Damian wisely recruited the services of choreographer Cassie Leen to help coach him and his staff on a dance routine.

In what sounded like just a great bit of craic on a Tuesday afternoon, locals, staff and even staff from Aras Mhuire Nursing Home and dancers supplied by Cassie Leen all took part in the almost two hour long fundraiser.

"We raised about €350 from the donation bucket on the day and then adding in the money raised from our JustGiving online fundraiser, I think we're just past the €800 mark in total. An amount that we're thrilled with obviously," said Damian. Well done to all involved!
