Huge turnout for Rec Haven's barbecue

This year the weather has been less than spectacular but there was a tremendous summer atmosphere at Benners Hotel on Saturday night as the popular venue hosted a barbecue in aid of the Recovery Haven Cancer Support House.

Mercifully the rain stayed away and over 100 guests enjoyed a fabulous evening of food, music and fun. The hotel's courtyard formed the ideal setting for the event, which kicked off at 7pm on Saturday and went on into the small hours.

Saturday's entertainment began with a Prosecco reception before a sumptuous barbecue feast and music from 'Behind the Light' and a follow up DJ who closed out the night's fun and games.

Benner's Hotel Marketing Manager, Orlagh Winters pulled out all the stops to ensure the event raised as much money as possible for a charity that is very close to her heart.

"Here in Benner's we are delighted to support such a worthy cause that has become an integral part of the county," Orlagh said.

"There isn't a home that hasn't been affected by cancer and indeed among our own staff and management, cancer has hit home. Recovery Haven offers services that are vital in our community and we are proud to be affiliated with this wonderful night," said Ms Winters.

PR and Marketing Officer at Recovery Haven, Marisa Reidy said the event had been a tremendous success. She thanked Orlagh and all the Benner's team and everyone who came out to support Recovery Haven on the night.
