The scoring at the Chapter 23 Credit Union Primary School Quiz held in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel on Sunday was described as "exceptionally high" by Credit Union Chapter 23 PRO John O'Regan.

Eighteen schools from all around Kerry took part on the day, with the winners and second-place teams in the two categories now going forward to the All-Ireland Finals in the RDS in Dublin on Sunday, April 7.

"It was a great day. Scoring was exceptionally high this year, and we are looking forward to seeing the successful teams go forward to the finals in Dublin, which will take in schools from all over the country," said John.

There were two categories in Sunday's event: U11 and U13. Dromclough National School, Listowel, were the big winners in the U11 category, with Glenderry NS, Ballyheigue, finishing in second place in the same category, closely followed by Holy Family NS, Rathmore, in third place.

In the U-13 category, the team from  Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, Tralee, went home as winners, narrowly beating Lissvigeen NS in Killarney, who finished in second place, while Sliabh a' Mhadra NS in Ballyduff came in third.

Sunday's event was the second stage, the 'Chapter Level', of the Irish Credit Union School Quiz, with the first stage, the 'Credit Union Level' having taken place back in February. Over 25,000 school children from across Ireland take part in the quiz each year and is now into its 28th year in existence.  This has made it a staple of the primary school calendar every year.
