Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí to host big night for school's recently retired principal Austin

The Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí in Tralee is calling on all past and present students and their parents to take part in a warm celebration of an educator who played a key role in the success of the all-Irish secondary over the years.

Recently-retired Gaelcholáiste principal - or príomhoide - Austin Ó Seachnasaigh will be the man of the hour at a function organised by the Parents' Council of the school at the weekend to mark his leavetaking.

The event takes place at The Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee on Friday, February 9, from 7pm as the Parents' Council issue an invitation to everyone to have ever been connected with the school to come along in recognition of the Cromane native's contribution to Gaelcholáiste life over the years.

Austin retired at the turn of the academic year, with Ventry native Ruairí Ó Cinnéide assuming the mantle of a school that is increasingly renowned for delivering academic success as Gaeilge through a wide-ranging curriculum.

In his time as principal, Austin oversaw a significant expansion of the school as well as many other developments that were resolutely student-focused.
