Doody family and Kostal lighting-up Christmas in Abbeyfeale
One Abbeyfeale family is at the heart of Christmas celebrations in the West Limerick town this year after they designed and created the town's Yuletide tree - set to light-up in the Square on Friday, December 1. It's the work of the Doody family in a project sponsored by local industrial giant Kostal.
World Champion kickboxer Kori Goad and ROI soccer player Chris Smith will flick the switch at 5.45pm on the date before what is hoped will be a massive crowd, all eager to get the festive season underway on the best note possible.
The celebrations are the work of the Abbeyfeale Christmas Lights sub-committee of the Community Council; a group comprising Denis Collins, Hilary Collins, Marie McElligott, Gerardine Mann, Kevin Kenneally, Esther McElligott and Jimmy Cahill.
"It is we great pride and pleasure that we can say the wonderful Doody family are the creators and the manufacturers of the new tree which will take pride of place in our Square on December 1," Hillary Collins said.
"We will have two wonderful young people to put on the switch, Kori Goad famous in kickboxing circles and Chris Smith, who is on the Ireland squad and brings great pride to the town." Everyone is now urged to get on down to the Square for the light show.
