Diocese certifies new youth ministers at ceremony
Fifteen Kerry people are preparing to help youngsters explore their spirituality and faith within the Catholic Church after they were certified by the Diocese of Kerry as its new youth ministers on Friday.
The group received their certification - after completing a special course - as youth ministers from Bishop of Kerry Ray Browne at a special ceremony at the John Paul Pastoral Centre in Killarney on Friday night.
"As parishes reached out to engage with young people, the need for trained adult leaders was identified. This course has developed the confidence and competence of leaders to deliver effective ministry with young people."
"It also nurtures the personal and spiritual growth of leaders for ministry in today's Church," Diocese spokesperson Mary Fagan said.
Youth Ministry is described as the 'response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community'.
