DUAGH: CHURCH/HSE General recommendations for all - Guidelines issued by HSE to Diocesan Office for Religious Services.We suggest that physical interaction during religious services, including the Sign of Peace, should be suspended because of COVID-19. We advise that church holy water fonts should not be used. So, Holy Water will not be available in fonts.

Holy Communion: To minimise the risk of spread of infection Holy Communion should be administered into the hands only and NOT onto the tongue.Everyone administering Holy Communion should use alcohol-based hand gel before beginning. HOLY COWS:Denis Lane of Kilmorna has been making the headlines last week with his cow herd.On Monday night last one of his cows produced triplet calves and the following day another of his cows produced twin calves.Well done and all are doing well.

DDA

The Duagh Development Association will hold Duagh's 3rd annual St Patrick's day parade on St Patrick's Day at 12.30pm .We are inviting all local businesses and clubs to get involved again this year to make it another memorable event in the village.

This event will be a fundraiser for Christmas lights for the village.Registration will take place in The Sports Complex car park on the day at 12 noon sharp as we want to start at 12.30pm.Contact Sandra on 087 6718377 for further details.

At both sides of the entrance to Duagh Village flashing speed signs, showing your car speed have been erected.The sign flashes red and indicates your speed if your car exceeds the limit and green if you are not exceeding limit.Thanks to the local councillors for these signs.

Approx 60 pupils from Duagh NS and Lyre NS were confirmed in Duagh last week by the bishop of Kerry.

GAA

Duagh had a good win over St Pats Blennerville in the 1st round of the county league at Duagh on Sunday last.A strong breeze favoured St Pats in the 1st half and at half time St Pats led by 4 points1-2 to 0-1.A goal from Ml Kirby followed by a point levelled matters by the 10th minute of 2nd half.Four points followed for Duagh to go 4 in front but a goal for St Pats left just a point between the sides.Duagh finished stronger and eventually won by 3 points. Final score Duagh 1-10 St Pats 2-4. This was an encouraging result especially seeing several young players playing so well.

2020 County League Div 3 15th March Currow v Duagh in Currow 2pm. The new chairman of Duagh GAA club is John Halpin.Best of luck to him in his new position. Duagh will play Moyvane in the first round of the County Junior Chanpionship.

Congratulations to Duagh/Lyre Community games on securing the gold standard in the steps to health awards. The award was accepted by our volunteer Nelius Collins in Sligo. It's great acknowledgement receiving the award with the work that was put in over the year. LOCAL ST. PATRICK'S DAY FARE

MASS VIRUS GUIDELINES

There are a few new guidelines now in force in all churches to assist with virus control measures namely, holy communion must be taken in the hands only, no use of holy water fonts and no shaking of hands at the sign of peace.All these little measures add up to helping people to stay safe.

Fifty five children from Abbeydorney NS and Kilflynn NS received the Sacrament of Confirmation in St Bernard's Church, Abbeydorney from the Bishop of Kerry, Rev Bishop Ray Browne, Who was assisted by Fr. Denis Mahony Abbeydorney P.P, Fr. Nicholas Flynn. Diocesan Secretary, Fr. Brendan Walsh and Deacon Francis White, Kilflynn on Thursday 27st February. After the beautiful ceremony the Bishop posed for photographs with the children and their families.

KILFLYNN DRAMA GROUP

The Kilflynn Drama Group in association with Kilflynn Community Together presents A Variety Show on Friday 13th, Saturday 14th and 15th March 2020 in St.Columbas Centre, Kilflynn at 8.15p.m nightly.

The show this year is themed on 'A night of the Biddy' with many humorous comedy sketches , great music , dancing and story telling that will the audience tapping there feet and laughing throughout. Scenes being reformed a number of years agoKilflynn Drama Group has always always worked in association with another organisation in Kilflynn and this year is no different with any profits made being shared with our community group Kilflynn Community Together.

The winners of the doubles darts competition in Parker's Lounge Bar, Kilflynn , on Saturday 7th March were J. P Twomey and Tim O'Halloran who defeated Kieran Mulvhiill and Darragh Mulvhiill in the final. The winners received a leg of lamb each. 18 players participate in the competition. The next darts doubles tournament takes place on Saturday 14th March at 10.30p.m in Parker's Lounge Bar. The winners of the weekly darts will receive a leg of lamb each.
