Tales of bad storms in Camp and a lesson on how to make a St. Brigid's Cross on Sunday at the Junction Bar was all part of an exciting programme of events around the peninsula to celebrate the Annual Storm Festival.
Mary Fitzgerald stories about going out with the Biddy and the biddy ball intermingled with Paud Herlihys reminiscence of storms which blew hay sheds down to the strand in 1936 engaged a captive audience all very interested in local social history.
The 1936/38 National Schools folklore essays from Camp School were a wonderful source of information.
There was even a story about a drought in 1921 when it didn't rain from April to July and then the rain came in torrents in August causing terrible havoc for the farmers.

Thank you to John and Susan Fitzpatrick for giving the St.Brigids Cross Workshop and to Mary and Paud whose crystal clear recall of times goneby was wonderful and fascinating to hear.
Dingle Peninsula Tourism reported a very successful festival all over the peninsula, Treasure Hunts, Concerts and lots more, all went great. A really good start to a vibrant 2017 tourist season, we hope !
I would like to thank all those who gave so generously of their time and talents to make the Storm Festival Weekend a success. The Concert and Friday Night though seating was not to full capacity, made just over 1000 Euros. There were some very generous people in attendance!
A special word of thanks to all the "new people" who performed and it was nice to have the choir from Cloghane join in. Maybe we can make it an annual occurrence.
Saturday night's Dinner was a success also. So far there have been good reports. Louise Overy, from Dingle's Ocean world, stepped up to the plate, given very short notice, to present a talk on Jellyfish and Turtles. Thank you very much. It was most enjoyable.
A special thank you to all the people who came out to support our youth and the work of the Community Council, without you, nothing would be accomplished. To those of you who weren't there, you missed an entertaining weekend. Maybe we will see you soon!
This is our community, these are our children; they need our support. Let's get all of Castle coming together for the common good.
Thank you again Marcia
