MS COFFEE MORNING: The Listowel/North Kerry branch of MS Ireland thank everybody for their generous response to the recent Coffee Morning. Thanks to Jackie and Aine at Tomáisín's for hosting the event, to those who gave Spot Prizes and brought lovely home-baking. It is much appreciated. All revenue collected is used in this area for vital therapies, etc.


The 2020 Ballydonoghue Bardic Festival kicks off tomorrow week, Thursday, March 19th with Mass in St Theresa's Church for the Aspirations of Young People. Friday night, Radio Kerry presenter, Joe McGill will launch the Festival at the Thatch, Prizegiving will be followed by Lisselton School Choir, Ballydonoghue/Lisselton CCE, Lisselton Trad, Bryan Murphy and Claire Keane Fennell providing the entertainment. All welcome. Poetry and Prose workshops on Saturday are full, the Brush Dance Workshop by Miriam Costello at Tomáisín's Function Room on Saturday has a few places left. Time: 2.00 3.30pm.

Concert featuring renowned musician, Donal Murphy and Breaking Trad on Saturday night at Tomáisín's Function Room followed by Bryan Murphy in the main bar. Sunday morning, the Thatch hosts the closing event with the very popular Open Mic/Coffee Morning session, which gives everyone a chance to recite their piece, sing a song, etc. The committee thank everybody for their generous response to its Sponsorship appeal.


The committee of your Parish Magazine is actively sourcing material for the 2020 edition. Everyone has a part to play to ensure the continuation of this very successful publication.

The competitions are now open for entries. Maurice Walsh Creative Writing, Second Level, both Junior and Senior cycle, Primary School and Photographic entries are welcome. Other items of interest include, stories about the RIC, house raids, etc. Photographs of all family occasions, both at home or abroad are an important part of parish history and the Magazine is the all-important way to document them for posterity. Finally, names of people who died in 1920 and details of where they are interred.

The death took place of Michael Rochford, The Cashen, Ballyduff. His remains were removed from Lawlor's Funeral Home, Ballyduff to St. Peter's & Paul's Church, Ballyduff. Burial was in Rahela Cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the above deceased.

Ballyduff Coiste na nÓg is running a Split the Bucket. Draws take place every two weeks and buckets can be found in local businesses. It's easy to enter, just put €2 in the envelope provided, put your name on it and put it in the bucket.

Ballylongford/Tarbert CCE will hold a junior music session in Coolahan's Bar in Tarbert, Friday March 13th from 7-9pm. All musicians welcome. Congratulations to all our young members who took part in Saturday's Súlt na nÓg, and a bualadh bos to those who brought home a medal


There was a very large attendance at the Parish Hall on Saturday night last for the Public meeting in connection with the development of a Children's playground in the village. A Committee was elected to oversee this development with Chairman Cllr Michael Foley, Vice do: Padraig Wren, Secretary: Marie Lavery, Joint Treasurers: Helen Lane and Sean Lynch P.R.O: Eibhlis Hanrahan. Committee: Sinead Bambury, Eileen Mulvihill, Elaine Keane, Claire Connolly, Eileen & Tim McEllistrim, Stephen Donegan, Patrick O' Brien, Christine Somers, Stephen Kennelly, Anthony Mahony, Marie (Mulvihill) McCarthy, Geraldine & Caroline O'Connor. The chairman announced to the meeting that the location for the proposed playground would be in the confines of the Church Grounds thanks to the kind assistance of our P.P. Rev. Fr. Michael Hussey P.P. This was indeed very welcome news and the task now is to raise the much-needed funds to put firstly put a design in place and then set about its much-welcomed development. A series of open public meetings will take place in the coming weeks and months in regards this development. If anybody missed this meeting and wishes to lend a hand, or offer some help or assistance in the future then you are advised to attend any of the future meetings where all the help and assistance of everybody would be greatly appreciated.


A short time back Michéal Dennehy of Bridge Street, unfortunately lost two of his brothers in England within the space of five Weeks of each other. Thomas and Denis Dennehy R.I.P. died unexpectedly at that time, their passing has created a huge void in the Dennehy family. To Michéal and his family we offer our deepest and sincerest sympathies at this time. On Saturday morning next March 14th the reception of Ashes and Requiem Mass for both Thomas and Denis will take place at St Michael the Archangel Church, Ballylongford at 11am. Followed by Interment of their ashes afterwards in Lislaughtin Abbey. May they Rest in Peace.

PHILIP O' CONNELL Congratulations to Father Philip our former Parish Priest who celebrates 60 years in the priesthood on this coming Thursday. Fr Philip was ordained in Rome on March 12th 1960. From everybody in the Parish we wish you many blessings, continued good health and many happy years ahead. Congratulations to you.


A Fundraising Community Concert will take place on Sunday March 15th at 7.30pm in St. Mary's Church Tarbert. The Ard Chúram Community Choir with Musical Director Mary Culloty O'Sullivan will be joined on the evening by the Choir of Tarbert's Primary School under Musical Director Meabh Lawlee for an evening of seasonal favourites. Tickets will be on sale from the 1st March at €10 per ticket that includes a cupán tae, caint, caife agus craic, in the Community Centre afterwards. Proceeds from the Concert will be split 50/50 with St Mary's Church Tarbert and the Ard Chúram Day-Care Centre Listowel.


A Fundraising Variety Concert in aid of St. John of God (Kerry Services) will be held in the Listowel Arms Hotel on this coming Friday night. 13th March. from 7.30-10pm. Your support would be greatly appreciated.


Road Works will continue again all this coming week on the Bog line Road between the Cross of the Wood and the Main Tarbert/Listowel Road (Mangan's Cross) where a Traffic light systems will be in place. Road Closure will take place on the Moyvane/Tarbert Road all this coming week. Access will be maintained for residents affected by the closure, but there will be no through traffic. Cable jointing works will continue on the Piermount Road to the Lower Road, these works will be complete under a single lane closure with no road closure required. These will be 24-hour operations from 8am on Monday until 8pm on Friday 13th March. The roads will be open at weekends.
