SIAMSA Tíre Manager Catriona Fallon has become one of the first graduates of a new national Audience Development Programme aimed at helping venues around Ireland learn more about their audiences in order to better tailor their shows to the tastes and wants of local communities and in so doing increase attendance at arts events.

Catriona, the General Manager of Siamsa Tíre, was one of 20 graduates who recently completed the inaugural national Audience Development Programme in 2013 which was run by the University of Ulster.

Friday's event celebrated the commitment that venues and festivals around the country have made to learning more about their audiences. It is hoped that the knowledge gained on the course will translate into deeper relationships with audiences and higher attendance at arts events.

The course was created to help develop audiences and build capacity in the management of venues and festivals across the country and included lectures from marketing guru Heather Maitland and digital marketing expert Susan Hallam.
