Two Tralee ladies are hoping that - what with a certain very important football match taking place on Sunday - there will be at least a few people still left in Kerry in Sunday morning for their charity bake sale taking place after mass this Saturday and Sunday morning.

Joan O'Regan and Mary Dolan from Tralee  are amongst nine volunteers who are part of the Brighter Communities Worldwide (BCW) charity who are heading to Kenya in November to help the people there with building life skills. The delicious cake sale will be taking place after the 6:30pm mass on Saturday August 31 and again on Sunday September 1 after the 10am, 11:15am and the 12:30pm masses. All proceeds from the sale will be going directly to the charity.

"BCW are involved in projects over there to help make the community over there sustainable. There's education projects and economic projects. This year when we are there, I will be doing a project on life skills and we will be doing an installation of smokeless stoves," said Joan O'Regan on Tuesday morning. "The big thing about the work that BCW does is that it goes into the community first and works with the people and the community there and they identify and figure out what the people there need," Joan continued. All of the baked goods on sale on Saturday and Sunday will be home made so you know they're good so be sure to grab one as you leave mass.
