A big hello to our community

KASI pulled out all the stops at the weekend to host the first of their country markets at their community garden in Ballycasheen and they hope they will be a weekly event throughout the summer to bring the local community together.

The KASI country market was one of a number of events around the county taking place as part of the Big Hello weekend - Ireland's first community weekend, where local groups were encouraged to organise events to bring different generations and nationalities together.

KASI, the Killarney Asylum Seeker initiative, offers support to international people living in Killarney and they came up with the idea of a country market, building on the success of their community garden.

The day consisted of plenty of entertainment for all ages, including face-painting and live music including African drumming and plenty of  fresh produce.

The summer sunshine brought a good crowd to the event and all in attendance chatted and relaxed in the wonderful setting  of the garden - the perfect way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon.
