Walkers put best foot forward in Dingle

THE 2014 Dingle Walking Festival attracted over 200 dedicated walkers at the weekend despite the hurricane winds and ferocious storm conditions experienced during the week.

While the schedule required some tweaking to deal with the changeable weather conditions and a power cut that left most of the Dingle Peninsula without electricity from approximately 8pm on Friday night until 2pm on Saturday - the festival still managed to attract over 200 happy walkers to Dingle.

"Despite the poor weather and some weather warnings reportedly issued during the week to avoid the Dingle Peninsula at all costs, we welcomed over 200 walkers over the weekend," festival director Colm Bambury told The Kerryman.

"In fact six of those had travelled all the way from the United States especially for the festival."
