Best known by his television work over the past two decades, Ainsley Harriet and his trademark smile is one of the last people that you would expect to see walking in the doors of the Listowel Arms Hotel.

The chef and TV presenter, who rose to fame with his work on the TV show, 'Ready Steady Cook' was a guest in the hotel two weeks ago where he attended a private birthday function.

In keeping with his all round nice guy image, one of the managers at the hotel described him as a "lovely, down-to-earth fella" before describing how Ainsley made his way into the kitchens after his meal to thank the chefs for his delicious steak.

"He went around and shook hands with all the chefs and kitchen porters there. It was a lovely gesture," said manager, Patrice.
