Tralee all set for annual Christie Hennessy Festival weekend

The life and work of one of Tralee's most famous sons, the iconic singer song writer Christie Hennessy, will be celebrated this weekend.

The ninth annual Christie Hennessy Celebration and song-writing contest will take place at the Ashe Hotel this Friday and Saturday, November 1 and 2.

Festivities will begin on Friday night with a show by the Tralee Troubadour Club which will see local artists joined onstage by leading performers from around the country.

Tickets are just €10 and include a free pint at the bar before 9pm. Saturday night sees the main event of the festival, the final of the Christie Hennessy Song Competition at which ten performers will vie for the coveted prize. 

The winner will receive €1,000, courtesy of Cara Credit Union, with €400  for the runner up.
