'I think as the old people had it, oral culture is gone'

Author, folklorist, and conservationist Eddie Lenihan has devoted his life to stopping Ireland's cultural past from dying at the feet of modernity. This doesn't include the nationalist tropes of self-sacrifice and resistance to 'foreign rule' that have shaded much of the nation's narrative since the foundation of the State. Eddie's crusade is for the protection of the Irish language, cultural landscapes, and the unique matrix of stories that stems from a vanishing oral tradition.
