Healy and Foden combine to judge Ladies Day at the races

The Killarney Races, and Ladies Day in particular, have always had more than a touch of class about them - but in 2018, a celebrity couple is set to add even more glamour to this already stylish occasion.

Pop star Una Healy, formerly a member of the Saturdays and a judge on 'The Voice of Ireland', will team up with her husband, England rugby international Ben Foden, to pick out both the best-dressed lady and gent on the hugely popular July 19 race day.

This year, it will be sponsored for the 25th time by Dawn Dairies. The winner of the best-dressed lady competition will win a trip for two to Paris, and the winning gent will receive a similarly enticing prize, a trip for two to Milan.

Such top-class prizes can also be found all week on the racetrack, and the festival has this year been extended to five days, commencing on the afternoon July 15, a Sunday.

A family fun day, among the highlights will be a Mad Hatters competition and great free entertainment for children.

There's further cause for excitement with the prospect of all the day's live sporting action to be screened at the racecourse on the day. Novel themes will be in place from Monday through to Wednesday, with Tuesday billed a Milliners' Day, surely a chance for attendees to showcase some spectacular pieces.

Things will not take a step back on the Wednesday, with this year's Rose of Tralee contestants moving from Tralee for a day at the races. Tickets for each day's racing are €20 apiece, and €25 on Ladies Day.

Admission for students and OAPs, with valid ID, and €15 on Ladies Day. Under-12s go free. For further information, group bookings or restaurant reservations, you can phone the course staff at (064) 663 1125.
