Diva Diarist to judge June fashion
The talented hand behind the hugely-popular Daily Diva Diary fashion blog - Helen Quealy Murphy - launched the Listowel Races June Bank Holiday meeting this week in an appropriate splash of bright fashion.
Helen was present on the Island with particular interest in the June Ladies' Day - as it will be she to judge the Best Dressed Lady on Sunday, June 2, in a a competition carrying a total cash prize fund of €1,400.
The two-day meeting - on Sunday and Monday, June 2 and 3 - is just about the best early summer jaunt for fans of national hunt and flat racing you'll find anywhere in the greater region; with the track craic complementing the Writers' Week buzz a great deal on the Whit Weekend.
Ladies Day is expected to attract large crowds from all over Munster.
Judging will start at 1pm with Helen Quealy Murphy set to personally walk the course to select 10 finalists.
The overall three winners wil lthen be announced in the parade ring after the fifth race.
And the prize for the Best Dressed lady is nothing less than a cheque for €800, with the first runner-up winning €400 and the bronze placing taking €200.
"We are looking forward to commencing the racing season in Listowel with a bumper two-days of racing," Listowel Races secretary Brenda Daly said.
"With Ladies Day competition and free children's amusements on the Sunday, big screen on both days and with great racing, there's something for everyone this Whit Weekend in Listowel," Brenda added.
Admission is €15 each day/ OAP/ Students €10 and children under 12 have free admission to the race course, when accompanied by an adult. Generous group discounts also available.
The June Meeting is the first of two race meetings at Listowel, with the second seven-day Harvest Racing Festival meeting being held from Sunday, September 8, to Saturday, September 14.
