Locals in Baile Uachtarach faced the camera last week to talk about life in their local community for the second series of 'Bailte' documentaries, which are being produced for TG4 by West Kerry-based Aniar TV.

The first series of Bailte, which was very well received when it aired on TG4 early this year, delved into folklore, local history and culture, the lifestyles of country people, how national and international issues impact on parish life and even the personality traits that might be associated with people from different townlands.

The forthcoming series of seven or eight half-hour programmes will follow a similar format, each documenting life in individual townlands around the country. Filming will continue until September and the series is expected to air on TG4 late this year or early next year.

So far only Baile Uachtarach and an area in Donegal are included, the remaining slots are up for grabs and Niamh Ní Bhaoill of Aniar TV will be very happy to hear suggestions about where she should go with her crew and cameras. She can be contacted at eolas@aniartv.ie.
