An online fundraiser set up in aid of a Killorglin man who is undergoing a gruelling months long chemotherapy course in Australia has this past week successfully reached its target of $10,000.

Dylan is currently living in Australia and only found out in the days just after Christmas that he has cancer and would need immediate treatment.

Setting up the fundraising page on December 27, Dylan put out a call to all his friends and family to help him with the costs of the treatment and now, just two weeks later, the page has, at the time of going to print, successfully raised $10,031 - which equals to €6,183.

Writing on his fundraising page, Dylan said that the initial chemotherapy course is planned for nine weeks but that depending on the success/failure of the course, this could then be extended to a 12-week-long course.

Aside from this treatment, Dylan said that he knows for certain that he'll need to have one operation to remove the main tumour.

Back here at home, Dylan's friends and family have not shirked their duty to help and have instead been busy making plans for a number of small fundraising events.

His friend Rafal Gradowski announced on Facebook that he will be holding an extra spinning class in the Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre this coming Saturday January 11 at 1pm; the price for this class will be €10 while all other additional donations will be accepted too on the day.

To book your place at this fundraiser, you can call 086 375 1563.

Elsewhere, Straight Blast Gym (SBG) in Killarney will hold their own fundraiser for Dylan this Friday January 10 from 7pm to 9pm. To find out more about what this class will entail, you can call SBG on 086 886 7867.
