Yorkshire choir set for three Kingdom concerts for Down Syndrome Kerry

One of the most celebrated choirs from the north of England are Kerry-bound for a series of concerts set to bring some of our best-loved historic places of worship to life.

The Gledholt Male Voice Choir from Yorkshire are on their way, all 32 members for a series of performances being held in aid of Down Syndrome Kerry, taking in Ardfert Cathedral, St John's Church of Ireland in Tralee as well as the more secular venue of The Ashe Hotel.

Brilliant local trad group Spailpín are meanwhile set to join the men of Gledholt in the Ashe Hotel night.

The Ashe is the venue for the first concert, billed as an informal evening of song and music and taking place at 9pm on Friday, May 10.

On Saturday, May 11, the choir will be singing with the Kerry Choral Union in St John's Church of Ireland on Ashe Street Tralee at 7.30pm. Ardfert Cathedral is the venue for the third concert - an open-air performance - on Sunday, May 12, at 2.30pm, followed by refreshments in Ardfert Community Centre. "This promises to be a fabulous and unique event in the awe inspiring surroundings of the 12th Century Cathedral," one of the organisers said.
