Getting struck down with the flu just days after finishing their final show is a small price to pay for the great success experienced by Donal Whelan and his talented pantomime group over the last number of weeks.

The Nano Nagle School had become the group's base of operations over the festive season as they performed and treaded the boards with great ease and skill in their chosen panto show, 'Beauty & The Beast'.

It was very much a case of having to leave all feelings of embarrassment at the door and just give it your all on stage and Donal himself was the epitome of this 'YOLO' attitude as evidenced by the big yellow tutu he sported and danced around in during every show.

"We're done and dusted. It all went well. It was a great success. We had good crowds, big crowds every night and now we're all down with the flu!" said Donal with a laugh on Tuesday morning.

"I'm smothered. I haven't been out since. But look, this always happens and sure it's par for the course. All that matters is that we had a bot of craic on stage and it all went off without a hitch" he continued.

An annual event, all of the shows acted as a fundraiser for Scoil Rialta na Maidine along with two other charities that are still to be chosen by Donal.

None of what they achieved over the past few weeks would have been possible without the help of all their sponsors, to whom Donal and the rest of his crew are extremely grateful to.

Finally, Donal said that a very special thanks must go Nano Nagle School for allowing them the use of the school.
