Star Wars shoot locations to host May 4 screenings
The latest Star Wars spectacle will light up the Kerry locations in which it was filmed in two special screenings to mark May 4, International Star Wars Day.
Minister Brendan Griffin confirmed to The Kerryman on Tuesday that two special screenings are to be held - one at Bray Head in Valentia and the other by Ceann Sibéal in Ballyferriter - to mark the occasion in a county now linked forever with the mythology of the space fantasy franchise.
"Fáilte Ireland have come back to me with a budget for the special screenings in something that is going to make quite a spectacle marking May the Fourth," Minister Griffin said.
"People will have the opportunity to watch the latest instalment The Last Jedi in front of both Kerry locations where it was filmed in an unique twin screening taking place on a pilot basis, but something we would hope to run as an annual event."
Fáilte Ireland is still working to tie down the exact screening location at Ceann Sibéal, and along with Tourism Ireland will be filming a special package around both events.
"That will then be used to market the experience internationally as Star Wars tourism in Kerry really gets underway," the Minister added.
