Other Voices goes Electric in Laois
WHAT STARTED in a small Dingle church will now be coming to one of Ireland's biggest festivals as Dingle's Other Voices musical showcase will be sending some artists to play at Electric Picnic in Laois this year.
The Other Voices stage will be set up among the trees of Stradbally woods and will feature Irish as well as international acts.
Other Voices is one of Ireland's most popular and renowned musical events and sees a variety of musical performances televised from the Church of St James in Dingle.
Other Voices began as a one-off musical event organised by Philip King of the renowned trad band Scullion in a small church in Dingle 12 years ago and has since grown exponentially to feature artists as renowned as Bell X1, Sinead O'Connor and the Antlers.
In 2013 and 2014 Other Voices hosted a tripartite event connecting Dingle, Derry and London in a series of performances that saw it feature as a headline event in Derry's UK City of Culture programme.
Electric Picnic will take place this year from August 29 to 31 in the Stradbally Estate in Laois with details of the times and lineup of the Other Voices stage to follow.
