Music heaven at St John's

A brilliant night of blistering trad is in store at St John's as Steve Cooney, Dermot Byrne and Trevor Hutchinson hit town for the Best of Traditional at the venue on Thursday next, November 30.

Guitarist Cooney, accordion maestro Dermot Bynre and bass player Trevor Hutchinson combine to form a prospect just about unmissable for any self-respecting traditional music fan, with a full-house likely within seconds of the doors opening at 7.40pm on the date.

Some nights before Cooney et al is a fantastic bluesgrass act from New York and Boston - Molsky's Mountain Drifters, in town to blast the sounds of down-home Appalachia across a land that heavily influenced those sounds in the first place. Grammy-nominated Bruce Molsky plays the fiddle, banjo and guitar with Allison De Groot on banjo and Stash Wyslouch on guitar.

Wednesday, November 29 meanwhile sees classical talents Finghin Collins and Katherine Hunka performing Beethoven, Wilson, Janacek and Brahms favourites at St John's. Doors open at 7.40pm on all gigs/€15 admission.
