Reeling in the years '1990s style' went down an absolute treat at McSorley's Bar last Saturday night where over 250 people enjoyed some nostalgic tunes from the '90s while reminiscing about Debs Balls, school days and old friends.

But the event was also a personal one for organisers Patricia McCarthy, John Cronin, James Murphy and Kevin Sullivan as the main objective was to raise funds for Cystic Fibroses Ireland as their friend Pat McSparron died of CF in November 1997, aged just 19. The evening managed to raise an incredible €5,000 which exceeded all expectations.

"We were hoping to get €2,000, so to reach this amount is just amazing," said Patricia. "This was a special evening and I had the idea of a '90s night in my head since last September. When I asked the lads to come on board there was no issue and we're already looking forward to organising a similar event next year."

DJs Jim and Kev played music from a glorious decade and got the mix spot-on, covering tunes from the beginning, middle and end of what was a great decade of music.

"It was a huge success and a lot of people turned up making it extra special. The reminiscing was the best part of the evening for me and we just want to thank all the people who helped us and gave spot prizes and supplied food. Their generosity was a leading factor in the night's success. We're so happy and looking forward to making the cheque presentation in the coming weeks," Patricia added.
