Keeping it country at Christy's festival night

James Duggan

A GREAT weekend of entertainment was had by all in Christy's The Well Bar this past weekend, as the bar held its first ever Country and Irish Music Festival.

The festival ran from Thursday until Sunday and saw a jam-packed line up of live singers and bands perform throughout the weekend, with proprietor Christy Walsh advising those in attendance to "bring your dancing shoes"!

Perhaps the biggest attraction of the event was that the musical entertainment provided throughout the weekend was completely free of charge and open to all!

The line-up saw the likes of Slim Attraction and Ger 'Flash' Walsh perform live sets over the weekend, as well as former 'Emerald Elvis' Mark Leen, who performed his new country music set for all to enjoy.

The festival saw huge crowds in attendance throughout the weekend, with a lively mood and high spirits engulfing the bar each night, making it clear to anyone who entered the vigorous atmosphere of the popular bar that Country Music is well and truly alive in the Kingdom.

And as the night rolled on, it certainly seemed as though Christy's words of advice to attendees paid off, as the dancing shoes were most definitely in use!
