Jedward Rose date confirmed

THE irrepressible force of nature that is Jedward are set to be the main attraction at this year's Rose of Tralee street festival.

The twins have been signed up as the headline act and are expected to attract huge crowds.

In fact such are the numbers of Jedward fans expected to descend on Tralee the organisers have been forced to make the event a ticketed affair in order to limit numbers and ensure crowd safety. The pair will perform on Denny Street on Friday August 17, the opening night of the festival. Tickets to see Jedward, costing €10 will go on sale at Lee Records, Castle Street Tralee and online at from 9am on Saturday, May 26, the same day

the pair will, hopefully, represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest Final.

The concert will be a fully enclosed and secure event and access to Denny Street will be restricted for health and safety reasons.

Chairman of the Rose of Tralee Street Carnival, Danny Leane said the committee were delighted to have secured Jedward and expected the duo would bring big crowds and many families to Tralee for the opening night of the festivities. "The businesses in Tralee have contributed very generously in order to provide a wide variety of quality free entertainment, and to subsidise the ticket price for the Jedward concert," said Danny Leane. Other acts due to perform during the festival include Royseven, Aslan, The Saw Doctors, Mike Denver and dance troupe Twist and Pulse.
