Hot Tramp to play the Picnic
KILLORGLIN electro-rock band Hot Tramp are lined up to play the Oxjam Tent at Electric Picnic but band members have their sights set at a much bigger stage at the festival.
The four piece are one of 10 acts shortlisted from an initial entry of 500 bands in a 2FM competition and all bands shortlisted will play at Oxfam Ireland's Oxjam tent at Electric Picnic from August 29-31.
It's an impressive feat but if the public get texting on August 9-10 when the band's new single 'Bless Me' is played on 2FM, then they will be in with a shot at performing on the prestigious Cosby Stage, joining bands like Savages and Little Bear. The winners will also avail of a studio session with some of Ireland's top sound engineers at the 2FM studios.
Hot Tramp are Jade O'Connor (27), Ivan Cooper (25), Rob O'Reilly (31) and Stevo Donoghue (26), all from Killorglin. They started out as a pop-rock band in 2010 but moved towards a unique electro-rock sound and have played alongside such bands as Marina and the Diamonds, Hothouse Flowers and the Republic of Loose.
"We are already over the moon to be part of the Electric Picnic line-up thanks to RTE 2FM and Oxfam Ireland's Oxjam stage but it would be a dream come true to go on to play the Cosby Stage, an even bigger stage with an even bigger crowd," Rob said.
"That's why we're urging the public to get texting and support us all the way," he adds. To vote for Hot Tramp text Picnic3 to 50300 during August 9-10 and 100 per cent of every €2 donated via text will go to Oxfam Ireland's work.
