ABBEYFEALE is set to come alive to the sound of traditional music, song and dance this Bank Holiday weekend as the west Limerick town hosts its 20th annual Fleadh by The Feale festival.

As usual, a jam-packed line up has been arranged from Thursday to Monday, the highlight of which is will be a concert by one of Ireland's most famous musicians, Sharon Shannon and her band. To mark the milestone anniversary, the legendary box player will be the star attraction at this year's Celebrity Concert on Sunday, May 4 at Colaíste Idé agus Iosef.

The celebrity concert was a sell out last year, so organisers are advising people to get tickets early this year. Tickets are available from Slice of Life, 06832655; Abbey Tiles 068-31661; Maureen 086-3265762, Celine 087-7697672 and John 086-3165848.

The Fleadh has become one of the most popular events on the traditional music scene and continues to attract large numbers of visitors to the town - the extensive programme undoubtedly adding to its appeal year after year. 2014 is no exception with visitors and guests choosing from workshops, busking competitions, ceilithe, bone playing competitions, storytelling, outdoor entertainment and open air music, art competitions and pub sessions.

As part of the 20 years celebrations, organisers have arranged a fireworks display which will light up the skies over Abbeyfeale from 10pm on Monday night in what promises to be an exciting and fitting finale to the 2014 Fleadh by the Feale.
