Fine food, art and wine at charity fundraiser
ART, good food, live music and plenty of wine – what more could any one ask for?
And they were all in abundance at the 10th annual Killarney Rotary Club Evening of Wine and Art, held at The Malton Hotel in KIllarney.
Having now firmly established itself as one of the highlights of Killarney's social calendar, this year's event once again didn't fail the art lovers and wine connoisseurs of Killarney and surrounding areas.
"As always, the night was a great social event but at the heart of it are the charities and community projects that Rotary Killarney supports," said Killarney Rotary President Paul Sherry. "Over the last 10 years this event has raised in excess of €200,000 for local charities and community projects."
This year's beneficiaries are the Irish Wheelchair Association (South Kerry), Irish Kidney Association, South/East Kerry Rural Recreational Micro Track, Irish Pilgrimage Trust, Kerry Stars Special Olympics Club, and a garden project at St Oliver's National School Ballycasheen. Eye-catching crafts were added this year and put on display along with the artwork. There was also a charity art auction and music by Mike Neeson.
Taking place last Wednesday rather than the usual Thursday this year, the event saw a wide range of wine, cheese, breads and patisserie from Daly's SuperValu, who partnered the evening for the second year in a row.
