It's a Fleadh Cheoil in miniature awaiting the trad-loving public as some of the province's greatest musical talent make for the 2017 Con Curtin Festival in Brosna - from June 23 until 25.

Organisers have put together one of the strongest programmes yet for the much-loved annual celebration of master Sliabh Luachra fiddler Con Curtin, who sadly passed away in 2009.

Flanagan's Bar in the village is already feeling the buzz as organisers launched the programme there last week to great excitement. Friday night, June 23, is the first big date for the diary with the annual trad concert belting into life at 8pm with the renowned Raw Bar Collective group, joined by Waterford-based singer Ciarán Ó Gealbháin and All-Ireland senior banjo and fiddle champs Gearóid and Darragh Curtin; with storytellers Billy O'Brien and John Murphy on hand too.

Saturday sees a flurry of workshops taking place under the guidance of first-class tutors - from 11am to 2.30pm; with recitals starting at 3pm and running til 7pm. "Liam and Paudie O Connor kick off the recitals at 3pm in Kate Pats Bar, followed by Mairead Hurley, John Blake and Jacqui Martin at 4pm in the Sportsfield Bar . The Three Counties Bar will be a fiddlers haven at 5pm for the annual fiddle recital," chairperson Máiréad Corridan said.
