Aine steals Ladies' Day fashion show

Chris de Burgh sure came to mind in Listowel on Sunday as a Derrymore woman stole the show at Ladies' Day in an eye-catching splash of red.

Aine Wall from Derrymore East, Tralee, was judged the Best Dressed Lady on the Island on Sunday in what was no mean feat amid the sea of stunning fashion.

Aine's winning outfit, which she purchased at Bamboo in Ardfert, was described as an 'A-line styled fitted red dress' in a look that was complemented perfectly by a headpiece courtesy of Roscommon-based milliner Laura Hanlon. It was a look that saw Aine winning a cheque for €800 sponsored by the Listowel Race Company.

Leading the tributes to Aine's discerning eye for fashion was Helen Quealy Murphy aka the Daily Diva Diary fashion blogger. One of the big influencers in all things fashion at present, Helen judged the competition; also singling out two other ladies for their fantastic style.

First runner up was Ann Marie Corbett who received a cheque for €400 and second runner up was Faith Amond, who received a cheque for €200 - among five other outstanding ensembles. All seven runners up received a gift bag from John McGuires Pharmacy Listowel.

Meanwhile the entertainment was tip-top following each day's top quality National Hunt and Flat racing, keeping everyone on the Island long past the final race in a show of numbers suggesting the June meeting is very much on the rise.

Next up is the Harvest Festival, one of the nation's greatest race meetings running this year from Sunday September 8 until Saturday 14.
